Well at least it was not a blow out. ACC wins 6 top 5, but two games easily could have swung it to 7-4 Big 10 as Illinois and Iowa just fell short. One thing that I came away with is our middle tier teams are going to be able to compete and the Big Ten will be a dog fight this year. Of course MSU just got hammered by North Carolina and proves my contention that Michigan St. is overrated. Duke beats Purdue on their home floor and proves the upper Big Ten teams are not at this point going to do much in the National spotlight. next year the Big ten should be real strong and should win there first Big Ten/ACC challenge.
Kudos to Ohio St. on an outstanding victory. Throw is PSU, Northwestern and Minnesota's wins and it really gave the Big Ten the boost in the challenge. This will bode well for the Big Ten come tournament selection time.
With early games in I will go on record as saying the winner of the regular season will only have 13 wins and we could end up with co-champs this year and a separate winner in the Big Ten tournament.

Big Ten College Basketball
One thing that really irks me is the medias love for certain programs. Here is what I referring to. The media is in love with Michigan St. and Izzo. Last year they annoited them early on as the top Big 10 team, ranked them high, and they stumbled. This year same thing, the team is made up of the same players, nothing has changed in there make-up yet they return as the pre-season favorite. I say prove it first then get annoited.
That brings me to my favorite Big Ten team the Fighting Illini. No team over a span of 25 years in the Big Ten has been more consistant than the Illini yet they get second teir coverage year end and year out. Yes they have had some rough patches, but they have been short lived and they consistantly win.
Examples, Michigan had the Fab 5. Look where that got them, they are still recovering from the fallout of the truth. Purdue had some good years in the late 80's early 90's and disappeared until last year. Prior to Izzo's run and national title MSU did little between titles. Ohio St. has been a yo-yo in that span. Iowa never lived up to press clippings. Don't get me started on Indiana. Wisconsin comes close to Illinois in consistancey. Yet all these teams get better pub than Illinois and don't have the long haul record to deserve it.
Well I have said my peace time to move on.
